The children sit on the floor in a circle.

In the middle of the circle, fill the pudding basin with flour, packing in as much as will go. Cover the basin with the plate and turn over, gently lift the basin off leaving  a flour cake (like a sand castle). Place the button on top. Use plenty of showmanship!

In turn, each child takes a small slice of the flour cake using the knife.
The object of the game is to avoid toppling the button from the top of the cake - it gets progressively more difficult as the game proceeds.
