Play Dough

Play dough is really quick, easy and cheap to make and will provide hours of entertainment for younger children 

You will need:

1 cup plain flour
1/2 cup of salt
2 teaspoons Cream of tartar
1 cup water
2 tablespoons cooking oil
a few drops of food colouring

Put all the ingredients into a saucepan on a medium heat.  Stir continually with a wooden spoon, it will look really lumpy - don't worry, it is supposed to!  When the mixture pulls away from the sides of the saucepan and forms a ball it is ready. Turn it out of the saucepan and knead it until it is smooth.
Play dough will keep for a week or so if it is stored in an airtight container or plastic bag.
